Yamaha R15 V3 (Indian Edition) Review
Yamaha the famous Japanese motorcycle brand recently launched the new edition of Yamaha R15 V3 in the Indian market and is yet to launch in Bangladesh. This motorcycle already creates a craze among motorcycle lovers. Though its a 155cc motorcycle but it looks like a higher segment motorcycle. R15 V3 is also one of the best selling motorcycle series from the global brand Yamaha.
Though this motorcycle got some new design and features the engine power is slightly lower than the previous/present version. But this new edition got a fuel injection system that the previous version didn’t have. The standard double channel ABS system is also added in its feature to improve its braking system. Its new fresh look will be attracted by anyone. So let’s take a look at this motorcycle.
Design & looks: Yamaha R15 V3’s design concept is taken from its elder sibling Yamaha R1. The front end design and the rearview look aerodynamic and sharp. Its LED headlamp unit and windbreaker looks aggressive. Its aerodynamic fairing looks solid and perfectly adjusted with the body. The muscular and sculpted fuel tank just looks like Yamaha R1. Clip-on handlebar and up-raised split seats make it more sporty. But there are some changes in design between the Indian version and the Indonesia version. The Indian version got rear fender reflector, mudguard, saree guard and different color scheme than Indonesia version. But the build-in quality and paint quality is lower than the Indonesia version.
Engine performance: There is no change in engine power and performance between the Indian and Indonesian versions. This version got some Liquid-cooled, 1-cylinder, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve, 154.9 cc displacement engine which can burn out 19.04 bhp maximum power and 14.7 Nm torque at 8500 rpm. There are also no changes in its acceleration rate and top speed. It can reach the top speed of 155 km/h. Constant-mesh, 6-speed gearbox equipped with the engine for better transmission. Yamaha used Slipper and Assist clutch rather than wet multi-plate in the Indian version. It will help to get easy gear shifting and smooth clutch adjustment.
Dimensions & seating position: There are no major changes in its dimension. But this Indian version got a higher seating position and ground clearance than the Indonesia version. 170 mm ground clearance and 815 mm seat high will be helpful to the rider. Its handlebar is also up-raised and more ergonomic than the Indo version. The seats are split and the pillion seat remains small and uncomfortable for a pillion. The overall height of this bike is 1135 mm, width 725 mm and the length is 1990 mm. Yamaha used MRF tyres rather than IRC into this Indian version. MRF/NYLOGRIP ZAPPER-FX1 100/80-17M/C in front and MRF/NYLOGRIP ZAPPER-S 140/70-17M/C section tubeless tyres are used in the rear wheel.
Suspension & Brakes: Yamaha used telescopic fork suspension on this bike. The Indonesian version was equipped with Up Side Down telescopic suspension. But the rear suspension remains the same which is Swingarm (link suspension). Delta box-type chassis installed and it will provide stability and strength. Indian version got a double channel ABS system which the Indonesian version didn’t have. 282 mm Hydraulic Single Disc guarded the front wheel and 220 mm Hydraulic Single Disc is for the rear wheel.
Mileage: This version is only available in fuel injection fuel supply. So it would definitely provide better mileage than a carburetor system. It will give 45 km/L average mileage. It will also provide 50 km/l in highway and 40 km/l in cities. That is more than enough for a sports bike.
Instrument Panel & Features: The instrumental console remains the same as Indonesian version. Speedometer, trip meter, odometer, tachometer are fully digital. Other features like clock, fuel gauge, ABS light are also available in instrumental console.
Colors & Price: This Indian version costs 485,000 BDT in Bangladesh. It is a little bit cheaper than the Indonesian version. It’s available in three color shades which are Dark Night, Racing Blue and Thunder Grey.

East and west, Yamaha R15 V3 is the best in Bangladesh. Though the power figure is reduced after BS4. I don’t like BS6 R15 V3. Because of ABS and price, always I recommend everyone to buy R15 Indian edition. Thank you.
