Bajaj Dominar 250 Feature Review
Bajaj Auto Ltd is an Indian multinational two-wheeler and three wheeler manufacturing company which is stablished in 1940 at Pune, Maharashtra and it’s a sister concern of Bajaj Group. Bajaj Auto is the world’s third-largest manufacturer of motorcycles and the second-largest in India and It is the world’s largest three-wheeler manufacturer.
Bajaj Auto first introduced the Dominar 400 concept in 2014 at Indian Auto Expo. The Bajaj Dominar 400 derives its name from the Spanish language, where it means “to excel or exceed in power”. And that is how Bajaj wants to position the Dominar 400, as a a cruiser-sport motorcycle targeted at the ones who seek power with of course some touring comfort. But Bajaj Dominar 400 didn’t full-fill the expectation of the manufacturers. After a huge disappointed with Dominar 400, they had launched the lower version of this bike Dominar 250.
Design & looks: Their isn’t a single change in Dominar 250 than the Dominar 400. Spilt sporty seats, sculpted fuel tank, twin-barrel exhaust, USD front fork, bungee straps (under seat) and all LED lighting set-up make this a sporty tourer motorcycle. It also has a improved mirror design to create a modern appeal to the front. Bajaj also used their first fully LED display console and LED lighting in Dominar series. This bike doesn’t have much stickers in its body but only the Dominar 250 and Bajaj branding. They have also used an engine cowl to enhance the sporty look.
Engine performance: Though the design and look remain the same like the Dominar 400, but the engine got changed. Now it’s come with a Single Cylinder, 4 stroke, DOHC, 4 valve, Liquid Cooled, Twin Spark, fuel injection, 248.7cc engine and it can produce 26.63 bhp maximum power at 8500 rpm and 23.5 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. 6-speed gearbox and wet multi-plate with assist and slipper clutch mated with the engine to pass the power to the rear wheel. The engine propels the motorcycle from zero to 100 km/h in 10.5 seconds and the bike is claimed to do a top-speed of 132 km/hr.
Dimensions & seating position: This lower version of Dominar series is also got the same dimension like the bigger one. The Bajaj Dominar 250 uses the same body panels, frame and suspension setup as its bigger sibling, thus has the exact same dimensions. The overall length of this bike is 2,156 mm, width 836 mm, height 1,112 mm and the wheelbase span 1453 mm. It also has a standard ground clearance of 157 mm and seat height of 800 mm. while the dimensions of this bike are exact same like the elder one but they reduced 4 kg from this younger one and it weight 180 kg. The seating position of this bike is also standard for any heighted rider over 5’4″. The handlebar is up-raised and the split seats are also very comfortable for the pillion and the rider both.
Suspension & Brakes: As a sport tourer motorcycle, suspensions play a vital role for a comfortable long tour and also the city rides. Bajaj used up side down suspension in the front and 110 mm Multi-step adjustable Mono shock with Nitrox in the rear wheel to reinforce the sports tourer form. They also used the same Beam Type Perimeter Frame in this lower segment. They used steel to build this frame which make this bike a little bit heavier. Dominar 250 gets a 300 mm disc in front and 230 mm disc brake in the rear wheel and also mated with dual-channel ABS braking to enhance the braking ability. It also equipped with 100/80-17 in the front and 130/70-17 section radial tyres in the rear wheel.
Mileage: As a cruiser motorcycle, this bike can hit 0-60 km/h in just 4.18 seconds and 0-100 km/h in 10.92 seconds which is pretty impressive. Because of the fuel injection supply, Bajaj claims that this machine can provide up to 35 km/l average mileage. But it’s variable depends on the road condition and riding capability.
Instrument Panel & Features: Bajaj installed fully LCD display in Dominar series in the first time and the display meter looks the same. The instrument cluster have the all essential features like tachometer, odometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, clock, and ABS indicator. It also has emergency indicator switch mounted at the left handlebar.
Colors & Price: Dominar 250 is only available with two colors, these are Canyon Red and Charcoal Black. Bajaj doesn’t launched this bike in Bangladesh yet because of the cc limitation. But the expected price of this bike would be around 420,000 BDT.
