GPX Demon GR 165R Feature Review

GPX is one of the leading motorcycle brand of Thailand. This motorcycle brand was formed in 2007 with the name ATV Panther. The founder of this brand was only 21 years of age and showed a strong mentality to established a motorcycle company. From 2007 to 2011, they did some survey to the motorcycle market to understand the consumer. After 4 years of research and development, they had finally launched Panther Jumper motocross off-road motorcycle. The very next year, they had opened 80 branches nationwide and build their 3rd manufacturing plant because of the high demand. Now they have over 300 distributors nationwide.

In the year of 2017, they changed the brand name ATV Panther Com. Ltd to GP Motor. Along with cafe racer and off-road, now they have higher cc sports and naked sports motorcycles. Speedoz Ltd is now become the sole distributor of GPX motor in Bangladesh and launched this stunning machine Demon GR 165R in Bangladesh.

Design & looks: The design of this motorcycle is almost similar to Honda’s new CBR 150R. From the front fairing to the rear, GPX did a tremendous job with its design and color variation. A large air-scoop mounted at the front fairing to provide enough air to the Engine and it feels like a higher-segment motorcycle. The LED parking light and black windshield enhance the beauty of this motorcycle. The overall fairing looks compact and aerodynamic. Along with a stunning look, it also helps to cut through the wind. The large sculpted fuel tank can contain 11 liters of fuel and gives the motorcycle a bulky shape. GPX also do some Demon and GR sticker on the body. The footpegs are made with golden aluminum for a premium touch.

Engine performance: GPX is always admired for its engine performance. Their CRZ 165 was available in Bangladesh with the hand of H Power and we saw the power of the GPX engine. The powertrain of Demon GR 165R comes from a Single Cylinder, Liquid-Cooled, 4-Stroke, 2-Valves, SOHC, 164cc engine that can produce 17.2 Bhp maximum power at 9000 rpm and 16.8 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. GPX installed fuel injection technology which they sourced from the American brand Delphi. The engine is mated with a 6-speed gearbox and wet multi-plate clutch for better and smooth transmission.

Dimensions & seating position: The dimension and seating position of this motorcycle are pretty the same like its elder sibling GR200R. GPX used a clip-on handlebar which is slightly up-raised to provide a comfortable ride. The footpegs are slightly down to create a sporty riding posture. The overall length of this motorcycle is 2020 mm, width 747 mm, height 1145 mm and the wheelbase size is 1340 mm. It also has a seat height of 815 mm and standard ground clearance is 159 mm. The kerb weight of this motorcycle is 160 kg which is a little bit heavier than over 165cc bikes available in Bangladesh in this segment. 

Suspension & Brakes: Suspension settings are very important for a sports motorcycle. GPX took international brand YSS’s mono-shock suspension in the rear and an Upside-down telescopic shock absorber to make it reduce the recoil better and more stable than the regular shock absorber even on rough terrain. GPX installed Trellis frame underneath the body to make it strong. This motorcycle doesn’t offer any CBS or ABS braking system but the braking power comes through a 276 mm disc in front and 220 mm disc brake in the rear wheel. The front tyre size is 100/80-17 and the rear size is 140/70-17.

Mileage: Because of the high fuel price, people always think about the mileage before buying a motorcycle. This motorcycle can provide a 35 km/l average mileage and almost 40 km/l mileage in the highway.

Instrument Panel & Features: GPX introduces new technology in the instrument panel which is Soft Touch. Now you can easily maneuver the features with your finger. This dashboard has rounds per minute, Fuel level, Speed, Distant, Temperature, and Gear position, Moreover, with soft-touch technology that is easy to use like the touchscreen of a smartphone.
