What to do if your Bike Registration Certificate is Lost?

Now then! This is the big fish. You should try every possible way to protect your motorcycle’s registration certificate. You can’t afford to lose it by any means. If you lose it, it will be a matter of serious hassle. Yet there is a way to get out of this trouble. So, what will you do, if you lose your motorcycle’s registration papers? Here is the solution.

For a lost or stolen registration certificate of the bike:

  • The foremost task is to make a GD. Rush to the nearest police station to get the General Diary done.
  • Then apply for a duplicate registration certificate. Well, you can only do it in the BRTA branch from where you have completed the registration of your bike. For example: If you have registered your bike from the Rangpur district branch of the BRTA, you can apply for a duplicate reg: right from that branch.
  • Now you need to collect a series of papers. The list includes the duplicate registration form, specimen signature form, as well as the money deposit form.
  • In the next step, fill up the form with the necessary information about the biker and the owner.
  • There you can find the sum of money you need to deposit in the form or you may hear from a BRTA official.
  • Deposit the required amount of fees to the related bank or booth. Receive the computer-printed deposit slip.
  • Here is an important fact. If you have any of your previous payments due regarding your bike, you need to pay those as well. Suppose, you had registered the bike when there was no need to pay for the RFID number plate. Thus you didn’t have to pay for that. But at present, it’s mandatory to get a smart card registration certificate as well as an RFID number plate. In your next registration, you would have to pay for those. But as you have lost your registration certificate, now to get a duplicate copy, you need to pay it immediately to cope with the current system. The BRTA software will show you if you have any fees unpaid or dues.
  • Next, get a clearance certificate from the related traffic office. Yet again, if you have no traffic-related case on the concerned vehicle, they will provide you with a clearance paper.
  • And now submit your papers to the BRTA office. The set of papers includes a GD copy, bank deposit slip, and traffic clearance.

What Papers are required for a Motorcycle Duplicate Registration Certificate?

You need the following papers to claim a duplicate registration certificate for your bike:

  • Completely filled out duplicate registration application form.
  • Filled out owner particulars specimen signature form.
  • 3 copies of stamp stamp-size photograph of the owner of the bike.
  • For the case of an institutional owner, there is an additional requirement of a formal application on the institute letterhead pad.
  • GD Copy
  • Payment Deposition Slip or Receipt
  • Copy of the Traffic Clearance
  • Copy of the Tax Token and Lost Registration Certificate.

Gathering all these documents, submit those to the BRTA office. They will take time to process and will notify you through your given contact number. Through that message, you can know about the next steps and the status of the procedure. You will receive all updates and instructions through messages. Check out those and do as they have instructed.
