Bike Road Tax in Bangladesh
A bike owner has to pay the road tax to the BD government for a 10-year spell. However, he can pay it in multiple spells. One can clear it for 10 years at once but generally pays it every 2 years. So, how much is the road tax or tax token renewal fee in BD? Let’s find out.
For bikes over 100cc, the user has to pay a total of 11500 BD Taka. However, he can pay it in 5 spells. For every 2 years, he has to pay 2300 BD Taka. Moreover, there has been an inclusion of a “FAF” fee. FAF refers to the Financial Assistant Fund. It will cost a one-time 1150 BD Taka more.
On the other hand, if the bike is below 100 cc, the 10-year lengthy tax token payment is 5750 taka plus a one-time “FAF” fee. So, for a 2-year spell, the user needs to pay only 1150 taka. Meanwhile, the FAF fee is applicable during the very first installment.
Bike Type | 2-Year Tax Token Fee | 10-Year Tax Token Fee | One-Time Financial Assistant Fund |
Over 100 cc | 2300 Taka | 11500 Taka | 1150 Taka (During 1st Installment) |

BRTA Tax Token Renewal Fee
If your 2-year tax token is expired, then you will have to pay for the next installment. It will charge you 2300 taka for the next 2-year spell. However, if you haven’t paid the FAF Fee during any of your previous installments, then you need to pay 1150 more for once. The ones who have paid their fee before 2023, will be required to pay this, because back then the FAF fee wasn’t introduced. One can pay it online or from any bank that receives the BRTA payments.
On the other hand, if someone’s 10-year tax token has expired, he has to apply by paying 23 Taka and also has to clear the 1150 Taka for the FAF Fee. Because, back then this fee wasn’t taken from the user. And then he has to bring his bike to the BRTA office for inspection. The inspecting officer will determine whether your motorcycle is fit enough for a few more years of usage or not. Based on the condition and criteria he may give you a new token for a definite period of spell to continue using your bike. The new token might be free of charge or may cost payments for 2-5 years.
