TVS Max Semi-Trail 125 feature review

Commuter and Sports segment motorcycles have a huge demand in Bangladesh, but we often see off-road motorcycles. Like the road condition in Bangladesh, we do need an off-road motorcycle but the situation is different. Commuter motorcycles have almost 80% of the market share and the rest is sports. Some of the companies do have some dual-purpose motorcycles but the number isn’t enough. In this situation, the Indian brand TVS brought a dual-purpose standard motorcycle called TVS Max Semi Trail 125.

TVS also has another motorcycle in this segment called TVS Max 125 which is almost similar to this motorcycle. In fact, the engine performance, dimensions, seating and handlebar position are similar to Max 125. Dual-purpose motorcycles are not only used in hill and urban areas but it also preferable in city rides. So, let’s take a look at this motorcycle’s features and appearance.

Design and Look:

The design of this motorcycle is almost similar to TVS Max 125, apart from the high front fender and dual-purpose tyre. The color variation and graphics are much better than the TVS Max. The headlight and tail light comes with a halogen bulb. The curve fuel tank, high-mounted front fender, spoke wheels will remind you of an off-road motorcycle.

Engine Performance:

Proper engine performance is an important thing for an off-road motorcycle. The powertrain of this motorcycle comes from a 4-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 124.5 cc engine that can produce 10.8 bhp maximum power at 8000 rpm and 10.8 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm. Though this amount of torque at engine power is not enough for off-roading, but as a 125cc variant, it’s pretty good. For better transmission, TVS installed a four-speed gearbox and regular wet multi-plate clutch. TVS claims that this motorcycle can provide an average mileage close to 55 km/l, but if you use this motorcycle off-road then the mileage would drop.

Dimensional Attributes:

As a 125cc motorcycle, it seems to have a standard dimension. An off-road motorcycle needs to have high ground clearance, comfortable seating and riding position, and a strong swingarm. This motorcycle has a length of 2000 mm, width 770 mm, height 1070 mm, and wheelbase size is 1265 mm. The handlebar of this bike is pretty ergonomic which will help you to get a comfortable ride on the long tour. The bike also has a fuel tank capacity of 14.5 litters which is pretty impressive. We can hardly found an off-road motorcycle having 10+ fuel tank capacity.

Suspensions and Wheels:

Suspensions play a vital role in any off-road motorcycle. TVS Max Semi Trail gets a Hydraulic Telescopic Suspension in the front wheel and a dual-shock suspension in the rear wheel. Though mono-shock suspension performs better for an off-road motorcycle but dual-shocks are useful for carrying luggage and weight. The front wheel of this motorcycle is bigger than the rear wheel which is pretty common for a dual-purpose motorcycle. It gets a 70/90-19 section tyre in the front and a 90/100-16 section tube tyre in the rear wheel. TVS don’t use any CBS or ABS braking system in this motorcycle. But the braking protection guarded by a 240 mm disc brake in the front and a 130 mm drum brake in the rear wheel.

Mileage and Features:

A commuter motorcycle meant to provide better mileage. As a 125cc motorcycle, this bike can provide up to 55 km/l average mileage which is claimed by TVS. But it’s an off-road motorcycle and people will use this bike in the urban areas so if this motorcycle provides 50 km/l average mileage then it will be ok. TVS installed a fully analog instrument console that can show you Speedometer, Trip meter, odometer and fuel gauge.
