Motorcycle Price May Increase in Bangladesh for Iran - Israel War

I’ran – Is’rael War Impact: Motorcycle Prices in Bangladesh May Increase?

When the world is still facing the impact of Ukraine – Russia war, new tension arise in the middle east. Iran and Israel recent war can be sustain and already the world is facing uncertainty. Though the war is thousands of miles away from Bangladesh but the effects could directly hit the motorcycle market of Bangladesh. Given Bangladesh’s economic condition, temporary government structure, and the upcoming 2025-26 national budget, this war might become a major factor in pushing motorcycle prices to new highs.

Past War Lessons: Ukraine-Russia War

We already saw the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war, which caused the high US dollar rate. As a result, the cost of importing motorcycle parts and fully built units (CBU) increased significantly. Though in the last couple of years, Bangladesh government forced the importer to start manufacturing in Bangladesh but still this motorcycle market is fully depending on India, China, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand. All purchase must need dollar to pay the manufacturer. If the dollar rate become high, ultimately the price will be increased.

Now, the Iran-Israel war brings a similar — and possibly more impact — global economic uncertainty. If the war drags on or expands into a broader Middle Eastern crisis, fuel prices and the US dollar rate could rise again, making imports costlier for Bangladesh.

Temporary Government & Pre-Budget Volatility

Currently, Bangladesh is under a temporary government, with national elections still pending. In times like this, strong economic decisions often get delayed. On top of that, the new fiscal budget is expected to be passed in June 2025. If the government increases import duties or fails to adjust policies in response to global inflation, motorcycle prices may become even more unaffordable.

Bangladesh already has one of the highest motorcycle import duties in South Asia, which is why bikes here are significantly costlier than neighboring countries like India or Nepal.

What If It Turns Into World War III?

While no one wants another global war, other countries are concerned about broader involvement if the Iran-Israel conflict continues. The U.S., NATO countries, and other Middle Eastern powers may enter the conflict zone. This could be cause of:

  • Price of Oil may increase

  • USD-BDT exchange rate could be higher

  • Supply chain difficulties

  • Motorcycle parts and accessories availability may reduced

  • International shipments can be delayed

  • All kind of transportation cost including ship, air, truck etc can be raised

All of these would mean higher import and production costs for motorbikes in Bangladesh.

Fuel-Efficient and Electric Motorcycles: A Smarter Choice?

As fuel prices will become unpredictable, fuel-efficient motorcycles under 125cc are becoming more attractive among the riders. Motorcycles that offer 50-60 km/l mileage can help reduce monthly fuel expenses significantly.

Though electric scooters are still not popular in Bangladesh, this crisis could be a turning point for them. Electric bikes can become a sustainable, long-term solution — especially for city and urban rides.

Deshi Biker encourages young and conscious riders to keep in mind fuel-saving or electric options.

Final Words

Bangladesh’s motorcycle market is already thinking about the pressure of global instability, high duties, and political uncertainty. If the Iran-Israel war will be continue, motorcycle prices could rise again.

This is the time to plan wisely. If you’re thinking of buying a motorcycle soon, don’t wait too long. Prices are likely to go up — not down.
