What is BS Standard in India?

BSES is the acronym for Bharat Stage Emission Standards. BS Standard is actually the emission standard set by the Indian govt that determines how much air pollutants an engine can emit. The Indian government has instituted emission standards and an engine can’t go beyond the limits. What is the Current BS Standard?

The ongoing or running BS Standard is “Bharat Stage VI (BS-VI)”. The authority has implemented BS-VI in India since April 1st, 2020. It regulates how much pollutants can come out of a vehicle’s exhaust. The pollutants include carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, methane, particulate matter, SOx, and NOx.

Which is Latest BS6 or BS4?

BS6 is the latest. This standard complies to all vehicles sold since 31st of March 2020. The type of fuel BS6 vehicles will use will have a lesser amount of sulfur and Nitrogen oxide (NOx). That’s why the govt switched to BS-VI from BS-IV.

Which BS Engine is Best?

No doubt, as of today, the BS-VI engines are the best. Because it executes a stricter emission of the pollutants. BS6 emits lower levels of pollutants compared to its predecessor (BS-IV). It will reduce environmental pollution as well as increase the quality of air.

Can BS4 Convert to BS6?

Actually yes. But to convert a BS4 engine to a BS6, the automakers must restrict the vehicle’s breathing. It will reduce the performance of the bike a bit. Moreover, the fuel efficiency will also decrease.
