TVS Apache RR 310 Feature Review

TVS is one of the leading Indian origin motorcycle brand for a long time. They are mainly popular for their commuter segment bikes. But now they started to produce sports and higher segment two wheelers. They also manufacture their bikes in many countries. Apache is the most popular bike series from this brand. They have 150, 160, 180 and 200 cc segments Apache motorcycles. They also have a full-faired sports bike called Apache RR 310 which is made with the collaboration of BMW.

The Apache RR 310 was first introduced in December 2017 in India at Auto Expo. In the middle of 2019, TVS installed a slipper and assist clutch in this bike and also increased the price range. TVS Motor has also replaced the matte black colur option with an all-new gloss black shade known as ‘Phantom Black’. In 2020, TVS finally launched the upgraded and advanced featured Apache RR 310 in the market with some changes. So let’s find out which features and technology used in this racing monster.

Design & looks: TVS took so many times to build this racing machine look gorgeous and aggressive. The design of this motorcycle got inspired from the deadliest predator the Shark. If you give some attention to the bike then you will see the headlight fairing, side panels and the rear side panels are much look like the fin of the shark. For the better aerodynamic, they also installed a windshield at the top of the headlight. This new edition comes with dual-color tone and the USD suspension gets the Golden paint. Because it’s a TVS product, that’s why you will see so many stickering all over the bike. The muscular fuel tank mounted with TVS logo and the fairing gets the Apache RR 310 tagline.  

Engine performance: TVS made this motorcycle engine with the collaboration of famous BMW. TVS now manufacturing BMW G310R in India and they used the same engine in their TVS Apache RR 310. Though, BMW G310R has a official top speed of 145 km/h but Apache RR310 has 160 km/h because of the fairing and aerodynamics. This machine equipped with a Single Cylinder, 4-Stroke, 4-Valve, Reverse Inclined DOHC, SI, 312.2cc Engine which makes it the most powerful motorcycle in Apache series. Because of the four riding moods the engine powertrain also differ with the moods. In Urban, Rain mood it can produce 25.8 PS maximum power and in Sport and Track mood 34 PS maximum power at 9700 rpm. The torque is also depends on these moods and can deliver Urban, Rain: 25 Nm, Sport, Track: 27.3 Nm@ 7700 rpm. For the better transmission they installed a 6-speed manual gearbox and Wet multi plate – 7 plate design, RT slipper clutch.

Dimensions & seating position: TVS sources the design of this bike from Akula 310 and almost look like the same. Besides the look, it also gets the same dimensional measurement as Akula 310. This bike has a overall length of 2,001 mm, width 786 mm, height 1135 mm and wheelbase size of 1365 mm. This bike also has a standard ground clearance of 180 mm like Apache RTR 200 4V. It can hold up to 11 litters of fuel and the kerb weight of this bike is 174 kg. This bike also has ram-air intake under the headlight and gill vents at the side panels to pass away hot air engine giving higher ride comfort for the racer at any time on the track. 

Suspension & Brakes: TVS also used the same frame they have used in BMW G310R. They installed a light weight trellis frame that offers higher stiffness with best structural efficiency for total control, excellent dynamic response at higher speeds and case of maneuverability to cut through the traffic. TVS used Inverted Cartridge’s golden USD suspension at the front and Two Arm Aluminum Die-cast Swingarm suspension at the rear wheel. These suspensions are tuned by the experts from the KYB. The mono-shock with monotube floating piston technology that will provide precise damping and smooth dynamic response to achieve best in class acceleration and cornering speed. The braking power comes from a 300 mm petal disc in the front and 240 mm disc brake in the rear wheel. The braking ability also enhanced by dual-channel ABS system.  

Mileage: Many people think that a 300cc motorcycle can’t provide an economical mileage. But this Apache RR 310 can provide up to 30 km/l average mileage. But this depends on a riders riding capability and road condition. 

Instrument Panel & Features: The most attracting feature of this bike is its instrument cluster. TVS installed a 5-inch TFT screen which looks like a smartphone. This display shows so much information about what a bike need. It also shows 4 different riding modes. This instrument panel can monitor by switches which are mounted at the left handlebar.  

Colors: There are two color variations which are also dual-toned. These are Titanium Black and Racing Red.
