Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 Feature Review
Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 is one of the appealing cruiser bikes not only in India but also in Asia Pacific countries. Bajaj introduced the first avenger bike in 2005. That time they only launched the 150cc segment. But in 2015, they launched 150, 180 and 220 segment Avenger bikes. In any kind of road condition especially in the long ride this bike is comfortable and provides easy controlling.
The new 2018 edition of Avenger Cruise 220 gets some upgrade in features and paint schemes. However, the engine powertrain remains the same as the previous version. The engine power is not satisfied as a 220 cc bike. Bajaj has to increase Bhp and rpm power. This motorcycle has to compete with UM Renegades commando, Um Renegades Street, Suzuki Intruder. This cruiser is cost-effective for any leveled people. Bajaj launched this motorcycle with single-channel ABS in this year. Let’s take a look at its features.
Design & looks: The Bajaj Avenger Cruiser 220 2018 launched with a new matte color scheme and some changes in design. It gets an all-new digital instrumental cluster and an updated headlamp with LED DRLS. Signature low slung seating position and wide up-rise handlebar gives it a trademark cruiser look. The round shape headlamp and spoke wheel give it classic look. A redesigned windshield added in its feature. It also customized with multi-colored body decals on both sides of the fuel tank and frame. The fuel tank and describable body parts get the touch of chrome finished. The whole body gets the matte paint fished as well as the exhaust. It also has a pillion backrest for pillion comfortable. The rear end looks like Harley Davidson. Avenger Street 220 customized with different body graphics and paint schemes. But this version didn’t have any pillion backrest.
Engine performance: There are no changes in engine powertrain. It gets some upgrades in design but the engine remains the same for Avenger Street and Avenger Cruise 220. The engine power is a little bit low as a 220 cc segment motorcycle. The power comes from a 4 – stroke, Single Cylinder, 2 Valve, Twin Spark, DTS-i, 220 cc displacement engine which can produce 18.76 bhp maximum power at 8400 rpm and 17.5 Nm torque at 7000 rpm. Bajaj should increase the Bhp and rpm for better highway performance. 5-speed gearbox coupled with the engine. It provides easy gear shifting and better transmission.
Dimensions & seating position: Low slung seat and long wide handlebar is the signature seating position of a cruiser motorcycle. It gets a roomier, well-padded seat and a pillion padded backrest for a comfortable long ride. The handlebar is wider and a little bit swept back which gives a more comfortable cruising posture and ride. The overall dimension of this bike is standard as a cruiser motorcycle. This two-wheeler gets a length of 2210 mm, width 806 mm, height 1142 mm, standard ground clearance 169 mm and a low seating height of 725 mm. That makes this bike more comfortable riding. Spoke wheels are used rather than alloy wheels and the wheelbase size is 1490 which also makes it more like cruiser bike.
Suspension & Brakes: Suspensions are the most important part of a cruiser bike. Cruiser bikes are mainly used for long riding. That’s why it has to be more flexible and well balanced. For that Bajaj used Telescopic Front Fork with Anti-friction Bush suspension in front end and Twin Shock Absorbers in the rear. These suspensions are reliable and will provide comfort in off road. Tubular Double Cradle frame type chassis is installed into this two-wheeler. This chassis provides stability and balance during ride. 260 mm Petal Disc brake guarded the front wheel and 130 mm Drum brake is for the rear wheel.
Mileage: A cruiser motorcycle couldn’t give better mileage for its heavyweight. But this Avenger Cruiser 220 can deliver the average mileage close to 40 km/L. Though it’s preferable for a long ride and can give 45 km/l in highway and 32 km/l in off-road and cities. This is enough for a 220cc cruiser bike.
Instrument Panel & Features: Bajaj upgraded the instrumental console than the previous version. This 2018 edition gets an all-new digital instrumental cluster with all essential features on it. It contained with tachometer, odometer, trip meter, clock, and digital fuel gauge. This instrumental panel gets enough contrast to see clearly even in daylight.
Colors: Baja Avenger Cruiser 220 and Avenger Street come with two available colors in the market. Those are Moon White and Auburn Black.
