Bennett 150 Feature Review
Bennett 150 is one of the most attractive sports bikes in Bangladesh though it was manufactured in China and the resale value of the bike is so poor but the young generation of Bangladesh would love to ride a sports bike rather than to ride standard bike. Bennett 150 was introduced first in Bangladesh at the beginning of 2013 but it took some time to start its official journey. They started their journey officially on 6th October 2013 in Dhaka. Bennett 150 is a bike within reasonable price whereas in the same segment any Japanese or Indian branded bike cost is huge. Basically, it is a carbon copy of Yamaha R125. Like some importers, which used to launch copy bikes in the market, MAF Motors wanted to make the same things. But, they brought some change. They copied R125 instead of Honda. However, in Bennett 150, company used air cooled engine where rest sports bikes have oil cooled engine technology. Besides, they basically used a 225 cc engine but their claimed engine capacity is 150 cc. Though, they followed Yamaha R125 but some features were changed completely. Like speedometer is not like the R125 and there is also a kicker included in the bike. The rest features of the bike are not so bad where there is a pillion grabrail and sporty handlebar. Besides, the tyres are also good and grip well. However, the max power of the bike is confusing. According to the company, it has 19 Bhp max power and considering this fact, it’s acceleration would be better than it’s direct rivals Katana and Megelli. Let’s see the specification details of the bike below.
Design & looks: No question about the design and looks of the Bennett 150 which is completely like with Yamaha R125. Full faired Bennett 150 is gorgeous. It’s full aerodynamic body kit helps to cross wind. The tyre are pretty wide and complete sporty fuel tank with a compatible split seating position. Nicely comfortable and sporty handlebar makes the look complete. Besides, there is an aggressive engine guard with a nicely adjusted mono shock absorber. The two-parted headlamp is completely similar to R125.
Engine performance: The engine of the bike is too powerful for a 150 cc bike. The company used actually a 225 cc engine but they claimed it 150 cc. Besides, the max power of the bike is too high and better than most of the available sports bikes in Bangladesh. The max power is 19 Bhp and according to the same statistics, the max torque is 17.3 n.m/5500r/min. The CDI ignition system is included to the bike. Along with the self-start, kick starting system is also included. Total five speed gearbox along with wet type multi – plate clutch plate are added. The compression ratio of Bennett 150 is low. However, the bike can run with almost 125 km per hour top speed.
Dimensions & seating position: Length * Width * Height of Bennett 150 are 2000mm * 690 mm * 1075 mm respectively. The dimension makes it completely sporty. Like sports bikes, it has split seating positions where a maximum one pillion can ride with the rider. However, the fuel tank capacity of the bike is 14 liters which seems bigger. The weight of Bennett 150 is 139 kg reportedly which has 1340 mm wheelbase. The ground clearance is 170 mm. Besides, the bike can take a maximum of 150 kg load.
Suspension & Brakes: The suspensions of the bike are minimum which are not so perfect. Due to Chinese manufacturing, the suspensions are also from China where front shock absorber suspension is used for the front wheel and in rear, mono suspension is used which is single absorber. Though, the braking condition of Bennett 150 are good where in front and rear, hydraulic disc brakes are used. Front disc is bigger than rear reportedly. This is a sports quality bike and so, dual hydraulic disc brakes were necessary. Due to both disc brakes, it can be controlled within very short period.
Mileage: The mileage of Bennett 150 is not so good. Due to Chinese sports bike, it consumes much fuel. However, the average mileage of the bike is 38 km which would go up to 42 km on highways and less than 35 km on city roads.
Instrument Panel & Features: The instrument console of the bike are fully updated. It has a digital speedometer, tachometer, clock, digital fuel gauge, low fuel and low oil indicators are also added to the panel. Besides, there is a nicely shaped pillion grabrail and trun lamp is also located to the bike.
Colors & Price: Red, Blue and Black are three available colors of Bennett 150 in Bangladesh whose current market price is BDT 2,40,000. The price is comparatively higher than most of the available Chinese bikes and so, it’s demand in market is poor. Due to low resale value and poor service, the young generation does not take it as their prime choice.
